Michael D. Assaf, Esq.

Michael is a founding partner of Assaf & Siegal PLLC, which was formed in 2010. He has worked in New York City, Boston and Albany prior to forming Assaf & Siegal PLLC. Michael came to Albany to acquire an MBA while practicing law and acquired his MBA in 1992. At that point his practice was established in Albany and Albany became a jumping off point for his statewide practice.



Michael is a civil litigator, and a corporate and criminal defense attorney with extensive experience handling matrimonial and family law cases and all types of civil litigation, including personal injury (prosecution and defense), construction, corporate and partnership disputes among other types of civil litigation. Michael assists businesses, small and large, with formation of entities, mergers and acquisitions, contract disputes and creation as well as with succession planning. Michael is experienced in estate planning and generational wealth transfers and estate litigation. Michael practices in courts throughout New York State and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. He also has experience handling large real estate development projects and related litigation and has done so most recently in New York, Massachusetts, Florida, and Michigan.

Michael is from Boston, Massachusetts but has lived in the Capital Region since 1988 and raised his family here. He enjoys spending time with his children and granddaughter.  He also enjoys raising service dogs for Canine Companions, the largest and most successful entity placing full service dogs with people with needs since 1975.
